I am going to try to put more of these out…don’t feel put out if your name is not on the list, cause I have truly gotten something out of everyone I follow and I feel blessed to have s-tumbled onto tumblr and the community of christians on here!
I have tried to take the bold out of some of the Psalms 139 post and it won’t go away. I didn’t put it in there in the first place, but I have seen tumblr editing do stange things before and this will probably not be the last.
God knows you better than you know yourself he knows the hidden motives of your heart and knows why you do things better than you understand them! He knows our words before we speak them. The psalmist was so amazed at God’s knowledge of him that he says it is too wonderful for him!

2. You cannot run from God, for He is everywhere! v. 7-12
God is omnipresent everywhere and everywhen at once. There is no hiding from Him.

3. God Made you! v. 13-16
He took care in your creation cause he likens it to weaving you. Man should thank God for making him! Everyday of your life is known to God and ordained by Him before you even had a day!

4. Hate sin as God does! v. 17-21
Have the mind of God, hate sin as he does. The psalmist gets very passionate about it and declares that he hates the enemies of God and because they are God’s enemies, they have also become his. This doesn’t mean hate the sinner as we will see in the last verses.

5. Make sure you are in God’s Will! v.23-24
The psalmist seems to see his passion and wants to assure himself that he is in the will of God in this. He asks God to search him. He asks that if any hurtful ways be in Him, that God would lead him only in the path that the LORD desires. As we that are part of the new covenant know, God wants us to hate sin, but love the sinner, not a phrase in the bible, but a sound principle derived from scripture. Study the word of God always to assure yourself that your actions and deeds are following after his. For if God so loved the world that he died to save it, we should be moved to action and let Him work through us to save all that are perishing!

“You cannot love someone that you do not know, and you cannot know someone that you don’t spend quality time with. To know Jesus is to love Him. To love Him is to trust Him. To trust Him is to obey Him. To obey Him is to be blessed. It begins with a daily, quality communication with the Lord. Why is it best to spend time with the Lord in the morning? Because you are getting ready to go on a road trip through life. You don’t take the trip and then read the map, do you?”—Adrian Rogers (via itiswellwithmysoul)
“Lord, I sometimes wander away from you. But this is not because I am deliberately turning my back on you. It is because of the inconstancy of my mind. I weaken in my intention to give my whole soul to you. I fall back into thinking of myself as my own master. But when I wander from you, my life becomes a burden, and within me I find nothing but darkness and wretchedness, fear and anxiety. So I come back to you, and confess that I have sinned against you. And I know you will forgive me.”—Aelred of Rievaulx (1110-1167) via Missional Church Network
For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same way He took the cup also after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes. Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner, shall be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord. But a man must examine himself, and in so doing he is to eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For he who eats and drinks, eats and drinks judgment to himself if he does not judge the body rightly. For this reason many among you are weak and sick, and a number sleep. But if we judged ourselves rightly, we would not be judged. But when we are judged, we are disciplined by the Lord so that we will not be condemned along with the world. So then, my brethren, when you come together to eat, wait for one another. If anyone is hungry, let him eat at home, so that you will not come together for judgment The remaining matters I will arrange when I come.
The Lord’s Supper is always a time for somber reflection on all that Jesus did on the cross for us. May we always do it as a remembrance to Him until he comes again. Amen! Come soon Lord Jesus!
You are allowed to have your faith. You are not allowed to legislate that faith to others.
People are going to use condoms, have pre-marital sex and view pornography. Just because it is against your faith does not mean it is wrong. Each person has their own ideas of what is right and wrong.
This thinking and logic is just skewed because the person does not want to admit that what they are doing or supporting is sin. I can’t hold the idea that it is right to just go into someplace and just start unloading a gun on everybody and say I thought it was right, can I? No, because everyone knows it is wrong. So therefore the idea that everyone has their own ideas of right and wrong is not held up. Go here Philosophy for Life and read the first five chapters of C.S. Lewis’s Mere Christianity to get a good hold on the idea of right and wrong and how it exists in everyone!
I will say one thing though, I believe now that political means will do nothing for this debate, because it has been here since I was born and it is still here. Christians only fool themselves into thinking that they can change things through the political system. I think it is because we have not trusted in God that it has gotten as bad as it has. The church needs to be out their turning more souls to Christ for their needs. As more and more found their fulfillment in Him they would no longer be deceived by the things of this world and would turn from them.
The people on the other side of this debate need our prayers more than they need our words. Until “they are given a heart to know” that he is Lord (Jer. 24:7) they will never understand the spiritual things, the things of God. Our best defense is prayer for them that they will see the goodness of the Lord and be turned to Him.
“It is ours to speak the truth boldly, and in every case we shall be a sweet savour unto God; but to temporize in the hope of making converts is to do evil that good may come, and this is never to be thought of for an instant.”—C.H. Spurgeon (via bringrevival)
As I looked,
“thrones were set in place,
and the Ancient of Days took his seat.
His clothing was as white as snow;
the hair of his head was white like wool.
His throne was flaming with fire,
and its wheels were all ablaze.
A river of fire was flowing,
coming out from before him.
Thousands upon thousands attended him;
ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him.
The court was seated,
and the books were opened.
Always loved the “Ancient of Days" title for Jesus!
Today at 1pm Daisy will have her next Chemo treatment. Please pray Philippians 4:7 for Daisy today “And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Having returned to school the first half of this week, we would also appreciate your prayers for Daisy to be protected from sickness during the flu season.
Well the rainy season has set upon us here. Been having scattered thunderstorms since yesterday and the temps are in the 60’s now. Actually had to dig out my rain gear to go and eat chow since it is about a mile walk there. Luckily only about 4 more months in country and I will be going home.
There would be a reason to die for a good man, Paul says. It makes sense to die for a good man, but the love of God isn’t like that. We have to remember that Christ did not die for good men. God died for sinners. He died for the ungodly. His love is on a whole other level. God loves people who are not worth dying for.
“as it is written:
“None is righteous, no, not one;
no one understands;
no one seeks for God.
All have turned aside; together they have become worthless;
no one does good, not even one.”
“Their throat is an open grave; they use their tongues to deceive.”
“The venom of asps is under their lips.”
“Their mouth is full of curses and bitterness.”
“Their feet are swift to shed blood;
in their paths are ruin and misery,
and the way of peace they have not known.”
“There is no fear of God before their eyes.”—
Man is worthless without faith in Christ…Thanks be to God that He sent his Son!
They used to charge a modest price for their mp3 sermons, but in response to demand they have made 150 sermons available online, free to download and share.
Dr. Timothy Keller of Redeemer Presbyterian Church, Manhattan, is a dynamite speaker, and is excellent at making Biblical truth come alive to today’s scientific, post-modern minds. If you haven’t heard him, I hope you will listen to some of these sermons.
If you’re a skeptic, I hope you will check out Keller, who is one of the greatest apologists of our day.
Importunity is the act of being persistent especially to the point of annoyance or intrusion.
Pretty cool that Jesus calls us to be like this. Glad our God is a righteous judge!
Luke 18:1-8 (Emphasis mine)
Now He was telling them a parable to show that at all times they ought to pray and not to lose heart, saying, “In a certain city there was a judge who did not fear God and did not respect man.
"There was a widow in that city, and she kept coming to him, saying, ‘Give me legal protection from my opponent.’
"For a while he was unwilling; but afterward he said to himself, ‘Even though I do not fear God nor respect man, yet because this widow bothers me, I will give her legal protection, otherwise by continually coming she will wear me out.’”
And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge said; now, will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry to Him day and night, and will He delay long over them?
"I tell you that He will bring about justice for them quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?"
“Any “mission” that springs from the “base things of the world” is a betrayal of Christ and is what the Bible calls “another gospel.” It cannot save or redeem people either as individuals or as a society.
I was looking around the web and came upon this…then I noticed that the answer portion on tumblr was exactly 140 characters like twitter. Now, I don’t tweet, but I am interested to find out how you would tweet the gospel. 1 tweet only. So, how would you tweet the gospel?
