…this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men. God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it.
~(Acts 2:23-24 ESV)
Let the groans of the prisoners come before you;according to your great power, preserve those doomed to die!
“O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire, O God, the Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, “Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.” Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wandered so long. In Jesus name, amen.”—A.W. Tozer (via prevailzine)
“Don’t pray for the persecution to stop! We shouldn’t pray for a lighter load but a stronger back to endure. Then the world will see that God is with us, empowering us to live in a way that reflects His love and power”—Brother Yun (via peacenotwar)
“Nothing is impossible for God - absolutely nothing. He holds all our lives in his hands and not a thing will happen to one of God’s children unless it’s part of His plan and will for our lives”—Brother Xu (via peacenotwar)
“Life is dear, but God’s love is dearer. To dwell with God is better than life at its best; life at ease, in a palace, in health, in honor, in wealth, in pleasure; yea, a thousand lives are not equal to the eternal life which abides in Jehovah’s smile.”—Charles Spurgeon (via craigtowens)
“As Christians we are not to live by any vision or dream, nor should we seek after them. We must only live by the Word of God and seek the face of Jesus. But we should also be open to allow the Lord to speak to us in these ways if this is how he wants to. Any vision or dream we receive needs to be carefully weighed against the Scriptures, as nothing from God will ever contradict His Word”—Brother Yun (via peacenotwar)
“When we arrive at the end of our own strength it is not defeat, but the start of tapping into God’s boundless resources. It is when we are weak that we are strong in God”—Brother Yun (via peacenotwar)
“If you have a God great enough and powerful enough to be mad at because he doesn’t stop your suffering, you also have a God who’s great enough and powerful enough to have reasons that you can’t understand. You can’t have it both ways.”— Timothy Keller, from his book The King’s Cross (via carlosantonio)
Slave: The Hidden Truth About Your Identity in Christ by John MacArthur
Slave: The Hidden Truth About Your Identity in Christ
This book was about the implications of the greek word “doulos” and what it means for Christians. Basically “doulos”, often translated servant or bond-servant, actually means slave. John MacArthur goes into the meaning of the word and how that translated into the actual life of slaves in the time of the New Testament. Using this combined with numerous scripture references, MacArthur makes a compelling argument for the Christian state as a “slave to Christ”. The amount of scripture references was overwhelming and convincing.
I found the book to be a wake up call to how the Christian should see himself in relation to Christ who bought and redeemed me.

“Technology, then, is the means by which we transform the world as it is into the world that we desire. What we often fail to notice is that it is not only the world that gets transformed by technology. We, too, are transformed.”—John Dyer, From The Garden to the City
“When Jesus said, “the truth shall set you free” (John 8:32), he didn’t mean without a battle. He meant that truth would win the war of liberation in the soul. Christianity is war.”—John Piper (via drquote)
